
North London is ideally situated as an accessible region with links into Central London and access to major routes across the UK. We are sufficiently close to the capital to benefit from its well established transport infrastructure whilst the volume of traffic outside of the city means that journey times can be very efficient. With almost £3billion of investment in London travel over the next 5 years, travel to and around London looks set to improve considerably. Road
North London is a focal point for all traffic heading north and north east and with the M25 at the top of our region, it provides a simple route to all motorways heading out of London to any part of the UK. Travel into the centre of London is very straight forward with the A10 and A1 both taking you directly into Central London. The A406 North Circular runs across the region and there are a selection of minor roads and back roads providing direct and uncongested travel. The A406 gives access to the M1, A1, A5, A10 and M11 - all major routes into Central London and heading north of the capital. Eurotunnel is a 90 minute trip from North London and it offers the fastest means of travel between Calais in France and the UK.

Rail
London’s Underground provides one of the quickest ways to travel within London. The North London region contains 27 stations on the Piccadilly, Northern, Victoria and Central lines.
There are 40 mainline stations in North London on the Great Northern WAGN and the West Anglia lines. The WAGN line starts in London at King’s Cross, Moorgate and Finsbury Park and has routes running up through Barnet and Enfield, Hertford, Stevenage and on to Peterborough, Cambridge and King’s Lynn.West Anglia has its London terminus at Liverpool Street and runs through Hackney, Enfield, Waltham Forest, Hertford, Stansted airport, Cambridge and King’s Lyn.

Tottenham Hale to Stansted Airport in 31 minutes.
Brimsdown to London Liverpool Street in 25 minutes.
Cambridge to Finsbury Park in 54 minutes.
Eurostar runs direct services every day between London Waterloo and Paris, Brussels, Lille, Disneyland Resort Paris and Calais-Fréthun. Journey time to Waterloo Station from Enfield is under an hour. Typical Eurostar times from Waterloo are 3 hours 30 minutes to Paris or Brussels, 6 hours 30 minutes to Avignon TGV and 8 hours to Strasbourg.
Buses
London Buses are now carrying the highest number of passengers since 1969. On 18 June 2004 Walthamstow bus station reopened following a £6 million building project – it is the third busiest station in London with 16 bus routes and 2500 buses stopping through each day. Victoria coach station is approximately 15 miles away giving reasonably priced travel UK and Europe wide.
Air
North London is in the enviable position of being centrally located between 4 major international airports. Travel time to any one of these can be as little as 30 minutes and they are ideal to use for business trips as well as rapid transport of goods into and out of the UK.
Stansted - Distance from Enfield, 30 miles, journey time 34 minutes. Stansted handles 18.7 million passengers each year, is home to 20 airlines and serves 114 destinations.
London Luton - Distance from Enfield, 32 miles, journey time 40 minutes. Over 7 Million passengers are now choosing to use London Luton Airport annually to fly to an ever growing number of business and leisure destinations offered by 9 scheduled airlines and almost 100 Holiday Tour Operators.
London City - Distance from Tottenham, Haringey, 13 miles, journey time 23 minutes. London City is radily growing and last year handled 1.5 million passengers. 15 airlines operate from London City covering 30 scheduled destinations.
London Heathrow - Distance from Hendon, Barnet, 17 miles, journey time 28 minutes. London Heathrow is the world's busiest international airport handling 63 million passengers each year. Over 90 airlines use Heathrow as their base operating to 170 detsinations.
Charter and Cargo Services - All of our airports offer cargo services both scheduled and charter and can handle all sorts of freight from parcels to machinery to livestock. For executive charter into North London in addition to our 4 major airports there are a number of airfields which are nearby that you can fly directly into. RAF Northolt is very well equipped to handle VIP charter flights, it is situated on the A40 and links to the North Circular which takes you across the heart of North London. Elstree, Denham and Panshanger are smaller airfields but are ideal bases for light aircraft and helicopters.
River and Sea
North London is fortunate to have the River Lea navigation running through the region along the Upper Lea Valley. It runs through Tottenham Hale in Haringey up the eastern edge of Enfield. Road and bus routes cross the River Lea at several points providing good lateral access to North London. The canal is presently an underused and efficient means of freight and leisure transport.
Sea transport is a very economical way of transporting cargo, especially large quantities or bulky items. It is also still a very popular means of passenger travel into Europe, being economical and convenient.
For cargo the Port of London on the River Thames is a short and quick journey south from North London and it is equipped to handle many different types of cargo from liquid and dry bulk loads, forest products and steel to general cargo.
For passenger travel into Europe the three major ports closest to North London are Harwich in Essex, Dover in Kent and Newhaven in East Sussex.
Travel from North London to Dover is 95 miles and takes 1 hour 40. By Hoverspeed the crossing time to Calais is under 1 hour and around 2 hours to Ostend in Belgium. You can also use the convential ferry which takes 70-90 minutes to Calais, 2 hours to Dunkerque and 4 hours 30 to Zeebrugge. Travel from North London to Newhaven is 100 miles and takes 2 hours. Newhaven serves Dieppe and crossing time is around 2 hours 15 by Hoverspeed or 4 hours by conventional ferry. Travel from North London to Harwich is 80 miles and takes 1 hour 35. Harwich serves the Hook of Holland and every other day it travels to Esbjerg, Denmark, with a 17 hour crossing and to Cuxhaven, Germany, with an 18 hour crossing.
