Selfridges meet local food suppliers in North London
Businesses in North London were given the chance to win new contracts and meet Selfridges as
North London Business
held its second Food Linx event at
Alexandra
Palace
on Wednesday 18 November 2009. North London Food Linx brings together buyers and suppliers so they can trade with each other and encourage local procurement. Over 60 businesses attended the event with many showcasing their products. With networking following the impressive line up of speakers, including: Sally Fowler, The Food Innovation Centre; Simon Doff, SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval); Sasha Notley, Selfridges and Rob Nugent from The Food Club, the event was a great free resource to small local businesses. Selfridges having only four stores in the
UK
, means small businesses are more likely to have the resources available to fulfill any order requirements straightaway should they win a contract.

It was worthwhile attending just to speak to Selfridges and introduce my product to them. Without the Food Linx event this would have been a difficult and very time consuming task. At the last event
North London Business
introduced many local suppliers to Asda, even though the process is long and vigorous, it's worth the effort if you manage to get a contract with a leading supermarket chain.
